taco tuesday

yeah i drank. that's right. hahahahah. so today i went with my momma to the drs.then we had pho. then i came home and did some reading for class but there's been shit on my mind all day. then i emailed judy tot tell her i wanted to do paitent advocacy at the hospital. then iw ent to play tennis with john. then we bought a case of beer and drank at the tennis court. then i went with john and his friends to taco tuesday at el torito. they closed early so we ended up going to TGIF. i got hella tipsy cuz i had a dos xx, then i had amargarita, then i had a long island. :) anyway iwent back to annie and john's house, ate food and watched friends, sobered up a bit more, and then went home! :) now i gots to pack for hawaiiiiii!!!!!!!!

i really want to cry. i miss him. he just called me. we were 1 and 2 in high school. we shoulda conquered the world together. *sigh*. he's in NY right now doing consulting for monitor group. i'm proud of him. he's going to be doing big things. he's soo awesomeeee. he has a nice ass office too. *sigh*. THATS MY BOYYYYY. im going to go make him take me around in NY, and then in boston. lol. :D

it's been a while since i've posted. lots been going on.

yay! okay, so i won't say too much about the vegas, GC, etc trip except that it was FREAKIN AMAZING. i couldnt have asked for a more awesome group of people. we totally clicked and it was just FUN. all sorts of fun, like vi said. we saw sooo much and we were so lazy! good times. i got hella drunk..so saturday night we went to rockhouse and drank and drank and danced all night. i had...rum (morgan), vodka tonic, and then an AMF courtesy of justin. vi had the same. melissa was smart and stuck to her beer. needless to say, there were some moments i dont remember from that night, but i had sooo much fun and danced my heart out. :) the second day, we woke up late, checked out town center and watched burn after reading, ate delicious spaghetti, and then went out to christian audigier, the club at treasure island (aka T.I. ;) ). jenny, vi's friend joined us. yet again, another awesoe night filled with drinking and dancing..i think vi had 4 drinks, i had 5 - 2 glasses of champagne, 2 shots of patron, 1 gin&juice - justin prolly had like 6 or 7. melissa kept it low..and jenny i have no idea. we definitely got hella drunk. poor vi got sick :( . we blame justin. :D the next day, we sent justin off to thea irport and the rest of us slept till like noon. we set out late afternoon, and made the drive to the grand canyon int'l hostel. stayed there the night. drove out to sedona in the morning, then went to the GC. then left arizona and drove to utah, and stayed at the sugar knoll bed and breakfast (vi thoguht it was "schukamol" HAHA). anywho, in the morning we drove to bryce canyon, drove back to sugar knoll for the pillow, and then drove otu to zion. then we drove back to vegas where we rested the night away. vi and melissa took me to the airport the next day around 1pm. FUN FREAKIN' TIMES. i <3 them. :)

as soon as i came back, i rested and rested. too much alcohol. friday was a blur. i slept all day. hung out with annie and john and watched friends and movies till 3 in the morn. lol.

saturday - i went with my momma to visit my grandmama. soo cuteeeee. oh boy. i have to visit her more often. she's bored all the time. lol. :) then i went back to the restaurant, hung out with the family/harry/nikki, went home to study and take my quiz so that i could hang out with dtrieu!!! tourguide time! we went to hillcrest (the gay area!) had froyo at pinkberry, then went to coronado to check out the sd skyline, then checked out hotel del coronado (the haunted resort) then retired for the night. sunday we explored balboa park, then went to old town where there was an awesomeee art festival thing going on, had lunch @ fred's, went to lids so he could get an sd cap (holler!!!), went to mt. soledad to get a 360 degree view of sd, then to torrey pines beach, then to the restaurant! it was such a party. my sister and my cousin and her family were there. fun times! then dtrieu left around 7pm-ish up to irvine. meanwhile my sister, momma and i chatted up a storm, my sister helped my momma, my sister drove me home and we chatted some more - yay for free clothes from sister ava - and then she left, and i was left to my quiz. blah. :) now i'm drinking seawood soup. :)

tomorrow, hopefully i'll get some more rest. i got sick - ever since i got back from my road trip i've been feelin a lil funkay. anyway,im also going to check otu the halloween superstore andlook at costumes with annie. oh yeah, an di might go to BLIZZCON. lol. funny funny. okay, goodnight!

unbelievable day!

i woke up this morning, quickly prepared the gifts for the weils and leafed through the packet of volunteer positions so i could tell judy where i wanted to be placed. left around 1030am and drove to ucsd medical center in hillcrest. got my skin test results - negative! of course ;) . ran into SUMI!!! on my way to the volunteer office who i screamed and waved at like crazy and then gave a big hug. she said that she had replied to my email and that she'd be out travelin all of next month but that she'd be back in nov, so we're gonna meet up then. then i went to the volunteer office and waited to meet with judy. i was kinda nervous well not really but kinda i gues because i wasnt really sure where i wanted to be placed and ididnt know if we had to know already. anyway, i asked her about epilepsy research and she said i probalby wouldnt get much patient interaction there. then we talked about the PACU, then the moores cancer center for some education and resources for families, thennn she said that she thought i'd make a great patient advocate cuz of my people skills!!! boy, the description sounds perfect and wonderful and it sounds like it's awesome. i just dont want to mess up when speaking with patients becausei think too much but hopefully with some training ill be able to do a great job! :) i wa s really touched that she really though i'd be perfect for it and then we talke abit about what im doing with my life and about last year's hip program and laughed and stuff and then she said i made her day. i love it when people say that and they actually mean it. its so touching. :)
NOTE TO SELF: tell judy my decision about hwerei want to be placed, make her cd of all the photos from hip last year; find list of improvements for hip for sumi; meet up with sumi in nov.

so i zoomed outta there because i had a lunch date with the weils who have given me $ for school since the start. i met up withthem @ harney sushi in old town. they are such a stylin' couple. MAN it's awesome. they look so rejuvenated and just wonderful. they brought out the old preuss yearbook so that i could get the scoop on everyone else they had kept in touch with. they thought i had some gossip and updates, but i really only keep in touch with 3 ppl from my class. anyway, it was good fun. they asked me about what i was doing and about whether i realistically had a chance at getting into a good med school. they got straight down to it - the nitty gritty. i like hanging out with htem because they keep it real. pat got a beer. we ate each other's food. it was pretty awesome. they asked me about love affairs. unfortunately i couldnt keep the conversation interesting in that dept. we even touched on business and fannymae. that was really cool because he talked about stuff and i totally understood him! yay for me. i'm proud. they told me about their former trips to china - they went to guilin, shanghai, beijing, etc with their own guide, HOW AWESOME. they were interested in improving the scholarship program. they talked about a mentorship program, so i might be a mentor for some kids. they also talked about a possible grad school scholarship program which i would totally love. <3 they mentioned too that cecil lytle is always keen on hearing about me and said about me "cream always rises to the top." that really meant a lot to me. i hadn't intended on getting in touch with preuss folk beyond my teachers/counselor/weils, but i might get in touch with cecil lytle and the preusses just to thank them for everything. i always kinda figured they didnt pay attn to me but i guess it's impossible seeing as how i was valedictorian of the first class to graduate. i guess i just didnt want to be in the spotlight so i kinda believed i wasn't. makes it easier. anyway, i will get in touch with cecil and the preusses and give them something nice. maybe a stanford souvenir or soemthing. they did have a big hand in all this, too. at the end of our lunch, i gave the weils some stoles, showed them my diploma and showered them with gifts from my travles - tea and bsicuits from london, coffee from PNG, jewelry box from egypt, placemats from singapore. they were surprised and pleased. oh, and i also treated them to lunch because they treated last time and i felt bad for not inviting them to graduation even if they wouldnt have gone anyway. i came home poopered and sat watching TV. i watched parts of my wife and kids, everybody loves raymond, and two and a half men. i saw my parents off to work. i think its really great being home and really a joy for my parents when they see me when they come home and im there when they leave. :) then around 630, annie and kris came by with subway sandwiches. we ate while watching TV. then around 730 we left for the play, JOY LUCK CLUB! i made a couple of wrong turns and we had trouble finding hte place but ALAS, we made it, and on time! the play was great. the cast was o so very talented and hte set was very creative and nicely done. my friend, tuyen, was fantastic! she was soo good and moving and she was already worn out too! she said she normally gets a lot crazier. oh boy. i was soo happy to see her and to see that she is doing so well. we've known each other since...3rd grade? and used to write letters to each other. cute stuff. anyway, we just said hellos and didnt exchange too manywords because some folks were wiating for her. we're gonna meet up another day. :) soo, annie kris and i drove back to my house while discussing how we are all goingn to go clubbing on thursday after i get back from vegas. lol. annie is only 19, almost 20, and so we'll prolly go to belo. icant wait! :D it'llbe her first time clubbing..moo wah haha...yes, corrupting influence. no, i don't care. happy times!

since then, i've been trying to study but i've been unsuccessful. i was looking at bathing suits online with annie. then i replied to some emails and put some stuff on my calendar. i think im going to try n do some more studying and then go to sleep. just wanted to record the days occurrences. :D tomorrow i leave for vegas, monday for the grand canyon, next week for colonial america. haha, i really shouldn't be traveling, but whatevers!

yeah, so my laptop is still dead. i thought harold fixed it, but it was a false alarm. anywho, my mom's laptop hasn't been working and so now i'm on my dad's desktop, which i rarely use because either my dad is on it or he is sleeping in the room and i don't want to wake him. OH BOY. i cant wait until black friday. i might even get a comp soon...oh, and a CAMERA. :(

the day's events: i woke up at...930am. did some reading for class. fell asleep again. did some more reading for class. did some paperwork for the padres. listened to some music while doing reading. received my kaplan MCAT books in the mail! i love new books. :D i can't wait for the class to start - i'm totally going to be super serious..from oct 7th until jan 31st. well i plan to be anyway. umm..saw my parents off to work. read some more. strummed the geetar. then rushed my dad's comp and emailed my donors to have lunch. woo hoo. :D chatted with some old friends, my cuzzin, and here i am! :D

yesterday: i sent a bajillion million emails to old folks that helped me tremendously in life - donors for school, old teachers. did some readiing. oh, in the morning i went to get my TB skin test for volunteering at the ucsd medical center. then i went to the carlsbad outlets with john so he could get a money clip thing, some shirts, and he bought a watch on a whim! it ended up being the one i chose, thank you very much. then we grabbed subway, he split for work, and i watched bad boys. then i went home, fell asleep for a few hours, woke up and strummed the geetar. i chatted up a storm in the evening and slept around 1am. oh guess what?! david trieu might be in so. cal in the coming weeks! woooo. yesss all the stanford people, come to meeeeeee. unfortunately mary will be in town the 23rd -25th but i'll be on my family trip to colonial america, and by family i mean -ava, her boyfriend, and meeee. :D i'll be seeing alison and ada there though! woo hoo!

the day before (tuesday): i went to look at a house with my dad in RB. then i went to the orientation for volunteering but it turns out i didnt really need to sit thorugh it becausei knew the lady in cha5rge so i skipped out early and had boba nad went shopping with cuzzin julie. then we split in the evening and i came home.

monday: i went to the beach with kris and annie. annie and i suck at body boarding but BOY was it fun! :) thenn we went to get some mexican food at roberto's and wtached talladega nights on TV at my house. we were going to go to john's to play rockband but it got too late, so x-nay on the rockband-ay. :D

im sleeepy and the bags under my eyes just get worses. its great!!! :) i've been on the comp looking up orientation information for volunteering at the hospital. before thati was watching talladega nights with annie and her bf at home eating roberto's. we went to the beach today - la jolla shores - to do some body boarding, well "body boarding". annie and i SUCK. anyway, fun times. what else did i do today? well, i had an awesome possum lunch with daddy and brian at bismallah or something, an indian restaurant with a lunch buffet! woooo. then we went to the chinese herb store to get med for mama, and then to T&L to get some stuff for the restaurant. then we checked out the house on clairemont mesa blvd. sold already. :( OH, DUDE, so i thought my exam for the class was still online till today but turns out it was only until last night (sunday) and so i mised my chacne to take hte quiz. fortunately, i emailed the teacher and they said dont worry about it, just do well on the other quizzes.wehewwww, what a relief. dang, i freakin woike up at 6am and did somet reading. lol. oh well i like it beter this way. well the real reason i woke up at 6am was cuz i think my mom was upset or tired and wa sbeiing noisy and seeing as how i live intheliving room now i woke up. i couldn't go back to sleep because i've been thinking lately about how much of a spoiled brat i am and have been, so i was like SHOOT, im going to find out how much my parents put into my stanford education..see how much it really costed. it kinda made me sick cuz the thing is, my parents helped me pay for the bill when it neede to pay but they didnt get the reimbursements/stipend checks that went back to my account...so the amount they dished out in total was ...29k, but considering scholarships/refunds, it costed about 18k. pretty sweet considering it was stanford..but like i said, i got a lot of the money back. whered it go? im not so sure...that what makes me feel kinda disgusted. anyway, im going to do much better accounting of my money now. *sigh* i'm pooped. i need a hug...like one from a friend not a family member...oh and preferably a male friend because i like boys...that would be nice. okay, goodnight!

lucky me

i just got home from working and going to walmart. it was a fun day. i woke up around 8am and went to breakfast with ava and william and pacific whey company. yummy. then i drove back down to san diego, straight to the restaurant and got home around noon. my timing was pretty good. i helped momma just in time for the "rush" which wasnt really a rush but ya know, relative rush. most of the day was just hanging out. i did some studying because i'm a lil behind on reading for my online class and we the test is tomorrow. HAHA. im a slacker. harold came to visit, too, with nikki. we chatted up a storm, talked about houses n shiet and then i talked to nikki about what she's been up to and about her life's been like lately. :)

yesterday: most of the day was helping ava move. well i helped her in the noon time but it got too hot so we just stopped and sat around lol till william got home. then he and his best buddy darren took it from there and drank and drank and moved shiet like crazyyy. i felt bad cuz i wasnt' really helping. i was tired. heehe. my sister oculdnt do much moving either cuz of scout (the dog) who they treat just like a human, cuz he kept getting in the way. yep.

im dancing around the house. no one's home. GOSH, im SO BORED. AHHHH HAHAHAHA I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVEEE IT! my head hurts. my heart aches. my stomach burns. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

my brain is turning to mush

i woke up feeling disgusting and like the biggest bum ever. seriously, i am soo BLAH. anyway, i tried to be a little productive. i practiced playing the gee-tar. i found my alumni keychain and applied for my 10% back on my cap and gown. i signed up for MCAT prep courses. i activated my new citibank credit card. i talked to BJ like after not talking to him in the longest! i talked to justin. told some more people about karaoke-ing tonight. OH, paid my credit card bills...and im about to buy vegas tickets. oh, i talked to huong -she's doing okay. we're going to have lunch again tomorrow and play wii. i talked to chau who was being girlie as ever. i just bought plane tickets for vegas. umm...dang, if i was an SDSU student i could get the MCAT classes for half off. bitches! anyway..what else did i do today? i guess that's it. :)

im all cried out

i just got back from watching "p.s. i love you" with annie. it was a good sad movie that made me cry mucho. anyway, good times. today consisted of eating out with ashley and gary @ harney's sushi in old town. there was a roll called "miso- harney" (harney because the restaurant is on harney st.)and it was written in funky text so i read it all slowly and out loud and then i was OH SHOOT. lol. afterward i went to carmel valley and hit a little bit with john but mostly hit some serves. OH, i ended up hitting with some of his lessons - these 2 really cute little girls with lots of spunk. they tried to pay me but i was like uh..no way, yo. aftterward i went home, bummed around the house for a few hours, took a shower, then went to the video store to pick up annie. her uncle was way awesome. he gave me some pizza from regents pizza - his favorite pizza place! :D anywho, i drove annie home and i <3 her family. i watched paris by night, which was doing this celebrity dancing thing -sorta like dancing with the stars - with her padres and ate their food - rice, ra muon, duck, and fruit. it was grand. then annie and i went to her room to watch p.s. i love you. she brought out the boxes of tissues in preparation. :) meanwhile, i tried tuning her dad's guitar. good times.

yesterday...i fixed my car! well, more like the engine check light was turned on and i made it turn off! william told me that toyota does it for all cars to get u to do a full tune up, but its not usually necessary. so u gotta do lil some'in some'in to make it go away. i was very proud. then i played tennis with john and his lessons. then i hung out for a few hours until it was time to pick up brother harold and nikki at the airport. i rushed them home in time so they could pick up their car at the dealer. then...i ate some dinner and then picked up annie andwent to john's place where we ate popeye's and watched harold and kumar 2! then we played rockband unitl like 1am. woo hooooo. fun times. OH yeah, and there was this dude there, JIMMY, who is friends with cuong, which is CRAZY cuz i had just met him last week at my cousin's dinner. it was funny cuz i was like..did you go to the lounge and he was like uhh yeah, i was right behind you and i was like Haaaaaa i guess i had too much to drink. :) and that is all.

happy belated labor day!

what an awesome day. i woke up around 7am and my dad and i went up to LA to visit his relatives from vietnam who live in LA now. it was soo awesome. they live in west covina. anyway our drive up was HELLAAA AWESOME because it was just like old times like when i used to play tennis and we drove up all early to tournaments. i tried to play some of his old school casetttes but a lot of them were sorta messed up. note to self: get more casettes for father dearest. anyway, he was told me stories about vietnam on the way up and like GOSH it was soo awesome. my dad is so freakin coool. when he was telling me some of the things he used to do i chuckled to myself cuz i can totally see some parallels in me. google said it would take about 2 hrs but there was like NO traffic so we got there in about 1.5. when we got to the relatives place - we actually went to several - it was wayyy coool because while i still dont really understand exactly how we were related, i know that it's through my dad's dad's side (my yeh yeh! who died when my dad was pretty young) and it was such an odd but utterly amazing sight to see this old dude who was much older than my dad and his wife telling my dad stories about the past and vietnam and about my dad's parents. my dad was just like a little kid listening super intently and even being shocked at some things that he heard and it was wayyy cool but sad, too, and some points from what i could understand. i was sad that i oculdnt understand all of it. :( my chinese sucks! *SIGH* anyway, apparently there is an even older dude that knows even moreee about my dad's family and so hopefully, my dad will be able to escape another day soon and here more about his family. when we were leaving and got in the car, my dad was like all happy and was like yeah, i want to talk to the other dude too because it's important to know about your roots. :) oh, and there were more relatives too! i met some i dont know how we're related but some family members of mine who were about my age - Soey and Kylie. they were really neat girls and it was cool because they were born in vietnam and came over in elementary school. they speak cantonese like super fluently i guess it's there first language, dont remember any vietnamese, but are pretty bomb at english. they were so cute and enthusiastic and they're pursuing careers in themedical field. yay! fun times. oh and they all fed us curry! mmmh. oh another relative of mine..a kid who is like 4..he ONLY speaks vietnamese. a lot of that part of hte family is still back in vietnam. it's soo cool how this is my FAMILY!

anyway, my dad and i left around 4pm - it was prolly about 6 hours of talking. there wasnt too much traffic on the way back woo hoo. we dropped by vinh hung supermarket on the way tot hrestaurant bought lots of banh bo -cuz i've been craving it for hte past few months- among other things. then we stopped by the restaurant to ppick up food for home and so i could pick up the tips from the weekend cuz i forgot to do that =/ o and so i we could prepare a few things for tomorrow since we had been closed for labor day. my dad taught me to make fish w black bean sauce and noodle soup! woo hoo. i wrote it down so this time i shouldnt forget. then we came home, ate, watched tv, i asked my dad how to make a few more things -like orange chicken!!! - and then my dad left for work. since then..i've been up to..checkin email, filling out this app for a medical program (1 full year abroad!), and looking up tickets for vegas. oh boy, its so expensive i might just take a bus. boogers.

by the way, did you hear about sarah palin's drama for your mama? and about japan's PM? and about the craziness going down in Thailand? and about Gustav's lesser than expected but its too early to say still destruction and the unexpected effect on gas prices? my dad and i have been listening to the radio and hten watched the news so we've been hearing these headlines all day! :) yay news!
